Let me ask you a few questions. How would you characterize your relationship with your body? Do you respect your body? Is your body and its well-being a priority to you? These are all legitimate questions when we’re talking about alignment. Unfortunately, most people have never even thought about the aforementioned questions. Societal conditioning has influenced us to be oblivious to the power we have over the well-being of our bodies.

Alignment should always be the goal in every aspect of your life. You cannot claim alignment if your diet is out-of-balance, just like you can’t claim alignment if your emotional state is in flux. It’s all connected.

When we’re talking about alignment, we’re talking about balance. Your body was designed with a specific structure and function. It was also designed to thrive on a combination of nature-based foods and rest. The fuel source, food, provides energy and electricity to a self-operating system. Rest allows the body to regroup, replenish and revitalize itself. The basic functions of the body stay in balance as long as the proper fuel is consumed and the body receives the proper amount of rest. By rest, I’m not only speaking of sleep, but digestive rest. A lifestyle consisting mostly of eating the foods our body was designed to ingest (raw fruits, leafy greens, nuts & seeds) with proper rest will result in a solid structure and efficient bodily functions.

This goes back to the question about your relationship with your body. The duality of life shows up in so many aspects. Energy returned on energy invested. As within, so without. As above, so below. If you want respect, you have to give respect.

Your current health is merely a reflection of your choices. To live in alignment with your body is to respect it enough to be conscious of how you’re treating it and understanding the power your choices have over its existence. Choosing to drink coffee, soda, milk and energy drinks on the regular is blatant disrespect to your body. Making the decision to consistently eat processed foods is metaphorically equivalent to spitting in your body’s face. Eating meat doesn’t only negatively affect your body physically, it also has a severely negative effect on your energy. Cooking the majority of your food is telling your body that you’re not concerned with the amount of nutrition it receives. Eating throughout the day and night fatigues your body to the point of exhaustion. All in all, this results in an out-of-balance body which manifests into disease. This is not alignment.

Luckily for you and me, our body has a lot more respect for us than we have for it. Our body is always compensating for our mistakes. The beauty of our body and another reason it deserves so much of our respect, is that it’s always trying to work its way back to balance. It’s always trying to appease us. Its main goal is bodily alignment. Our body is doing its part… it’s time for us to do ours.

Alignment should always be the goal in every aspect of your life. You cannot claim alignment if your diet is out-of-balance, just like you can’t claim alignment if your emotional state is in flux. It’s all connected. True alignment is balance of the mind, body and soul. Once you begin respecting your body with the same energy it’s constantly giving you, then you will be on the path to alignment.

The first step is appreciating your body and all that it provides you. It starts with energy and awareness. That act of gratuity will create an energetic connection with your inner-terrain built on respect and ultimately culminate into better choices. The more aligned you become with your body, the more aligned you’ll become with nature. The more we become aligned with nature, the better off we’ll all be collectively.
